Spiritual Sudays 1

I have been looking forward to writing with Spiritual Sundays blogs (http://bloggerspirit.blogspot.com/), but feel somewhat inadequate.
I grew up in a Christian home. My parents were raised church of Christ, then became "home churchers" when I was about 7 yrs. old (?). I see my self as a babe in Christ still. I have so much to learn, and so many areas I need to grow in! I sometimes feel like a tiny sprout, surrounded by trees, that look down upon me and notice all my flaws and weaknesses!
I gave my life to Christ when I was almost 18. I was tired of trying to run my own life and all I was doing was ruining it! I decided God could be my own Lord and Savior and He was not a God who wanted to punish me and doom me to hell! But He really loved me for me! And wanted me to be His! He is not a father who always points out your flaws and constantly picks you over. He is a loving God who forgives, washes you clean and remembers your sin no more! I wanted a relationship with Him! I wanted Him to be my God, my Heavenly Father! This is so comforting to me! I feel like a little lamb or child, safely in the Good Shepherds Arms now! What peace! What joy is here! How loved I feel!
I am still working on my daily Bible study time. This is the most important time in my day. If I ever miss a day, I feel the hunger pains! They nag on me all day, until I stop and take my time to feed on God's word! No matter how old we are in our life with Christ, we still need to fed on God's word. We may fast physically, but we can not fast spiritually! We will become so weak and faint, starved in the spirit, that anything may overtake us!
I start my daily Bible reading out with writing in my "Prayer Journal." It is my daily letter, I am writing to my Heavenly Father. I started a Prayer Journal when I gave my life to Christ. I have found this to be very helpful, especially as a mother now! It helps me keep more focused when writing.
I just finished reading the book of Job and the Gospel of John (my favorite book in the Bible!). I am reading in Psalms and Proverbs and have just started the books of Jeremiah and Acts.
I enjoy reading from the scriptures soo Much! Everyday, I pray that I grow spiritually, so that I may be a godly wife and mother, a teacher of good things to our children, a Christ-like servant, always ready to do my Lord's will, and a faithful daughter to my dear Heavenly Father!

Delighting in His word,
Hannah

  1. A great testimony. It encouraged me to read about your life in Christ. My background is also with the Church of Christ. I don't understand what you mean about "homechurchers". I was a Senior Minister for 47 years. I am now retired. We attend the Scottsdale Bible Church. I wrote a post a few weeks ago about my daily devotional habits. Again, it was good to read your testimony and I hope you will be a regular writer and share what comes out of your Bible studies and devotionals.

  2. I'm so glad you shared this testimony with us. I grew up in the church of Christ. Actually my mother and I started going to church when I was 10 years old. My Mom had grown up in the church of Christ but in my early years we moved around a lot and she didn't go to church for several years. It was my idea to start going to church and she was happy to take me. Since that time we almost never missed a church service, twice on Sunday, Wednesday night and special gospel meetings and Sunday afternoon singings. I am thankful for my early church experiences. The man I married was preaching for the church of Christ when we got married. He preached for four churches in California. When we moved to Arizona we came to an Independent Christian Church. Now we go to a Bible Church.
I'm glad you chose to share with us on Spiritual Sundays.
    Blessings,

  3. Another comment -
While I was writing my comment my husband was also commenting on his computer. I see it posted just before mine. Thought I would clarify it if you were wondering.
