"Kids In The Kitchen" Gooseberry Patch Cookbook Review and Giveaway!!!

I LOVE Gooseberry Patch!
I love to cook and bake! Ever since I was little, the creative pictures, recipes and one-of-a-kind books by gooseberry patch, have always been one of my favorite collections!! Maybe they are a big reason for my love of cooking and baking?! =)
Anyways, as a mom of two girls, I look forward to teaching them how to cook and be creative in the kitchen and around the home, so I have several Gooseberry Patch books on my "wish List" for them!
You can imagine how thrilled I was when Barbara from Gooseberry Patch said I could review the children's cookbook, "Kids In The Kitchen" on my blog, for my daughter's birthday party!! How amazing!

When I received the "Kids In the Kitchen" cookbook, I was very happy to see how sturdy the pages are and that they are easy to clean! This is a very kid-proof cookbook!

The recipes are kid-friendly of course and all of them foods that kids Love!
My children are looking forward to making the yummy chocolate "Cup of Dirt" with gummy worms! And I hope one of the next recipes we make together is the "Crispy Chicken Bites"!

Growing up, my siblings and I ate Toad-In-A-Hole and "Kids In The Kitchen" has a neat recipe to introduce this great breakfast treat to your children!

Toad-In-A-Hole was the first recipe we made together from this cookbook! My daughter had so much fun!

Then we got a watermelon at the store the other day and tried the "Melonberry Lemonade"! It is SOOO Yummy!!! I wish I had the recipe before my daughter's party now! Lol! Would make a perfect party drink, a new addition to the lemonade stand and great cooler for hot summer days!

This cookbook has definitely opened up the world of creative cooking to my daughter and I am so glad she is enjoying it and excited about it!
If you are looking for a book to get your child interested in cooking, Or more excited about it, or just want a great kids cookbook, I highly recommend "Kids In the Kitchen" from Gooseberry!

Hasbro Gator Golf Game Review!

I am pretty picky when it comes to buying toys for my children. Most of the toys my kids get are from other people, since I usually decide to spend our money on books! Lol!! But there has been ONE game that I have really been wanting to get them! Yep! Gator golf!
I have to admit I was not sure exactly how the game worked or how to play it until I got the game! But it is even better then I thought! It does not require batteries, and it does not make noise except for a click when it closes it's mouth and pops the ball out with it's tail!!!! How great is that! No batteries and quiet! My husband Loves that! And everyone I have showed it too, likes it too!! =)

Gator golf is tons of fun! I love playing it with the kids! The game comes with 2 putters, two balls and instructions. You can play the game solo or with a friend! It makes a great game for indoors and outdoors! Gator golf is your own mini-golf at home. And perfect size to throw in a bag and take on your camping trip, to the park, etc!
Each putter has an easy way for players to keep score and the first player to make 4 points wins!

The game says for ages 3 and up, but my 1 1/2 yr. old grand baby and my 2 1/2 yr. old love to play it! It is really cute to see them get down and put the ball in the goofy gators mouth! And to see the surprise on their face the first time they see the gator "swish" the ball back out with his tail! It is really neat! He throws it out, overs his head, back in front of him!

I give this game 5 stars and Highly recommend it!

You may find Gator Golf online or in stores at KMart, Wal-Mart, Target and ToysRUs!

I also highly recommend that you visit Hasbro.com and HasbroToyShop to find more great toys and games! I love Hasbro toys and remember playing with so many of them while I was growing up! Some of my favorites where Little Pets, My Little Pony, and of course PlayDoh!

Hope you have fun with your Gator Golf! It has definitely been one of the best toys for my children!
Happy Puttin'!

Princess Summer Party Menu and Recipes!!!

For Princess S. Birthday, she ask for a horse cake, so I thought I would try to come up with a menu that would maybe fit a theme and be kid-friendly, finger foods!

I love cheese balls/spread and decided to shape a cheese spread into a horse head! It turned out good and I served it with carrot sticks of course! =)
Horse Head Cheese Spread!

24+ servings
Prep: 5 min. + chilling
Ingredients
2 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
1 cup butter, softened
1/2 of a 1 oz. package of Ranch dressing mix
1/4 tsp. each dried basil, dill weed, garlic powder and pepper
Assorted crackers
Directions
•In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese, butter and seasonings until
well blended. Shape into horse head using a butter knife and fork. Decorate with black olives. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Serve with crackers. Yield: about 3 cups.

I wanted to get some Pizza Roll Ups (or whatever they are called! Lol!), since I knew the kids would Love them! Well, I just couldn't make myself buy them since money is tight, soooooo....I decided to try to make my own! =)
I had a jar of pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese and we had just bought, cooked sliced and put a ham in the freezer!
Every recipe I found called for crescent dough! Well I did not have that and do not buy it, so I decided to find a dough recipe!
Well after a lot of searching, I found this recipe on a lady's blog:

Pigs In A Blanket Yeast Dough Recipe
Makes 16

2 c. warm water
2 TBSP yeast
1/2 c. sugar

Let stand for 5 mins.

Add
1 egg
1/4 c. oil
2 tsp. salt
5 c. flour

Knead 7 minutes. Let rise one hour.
Divide in half. Roll out into 2 round 18" circles. Use pizza cutter or butter knife to cut into pie wedges each.
Roll up a hotdog into each wedge. Let rise 1 hour. Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes."

For a step-by-step on how to make them, please visit "Seagull Fountain"!

Now for what I did!

Yes, I went a little wild and had so much Fun!

I made a triple batch of the dough! Warning use a Huge bowl if you do this! lol!

When the dough was ready to fill I filled one batch (divided in 2 halfs) with summer sausages (like hotdogs) and velvetta cheese. I cut the dough in the wedges and rolled into crescents. That made 16 pigs in a blanket!

The second batch, I rolled out (divided in 2 halves)into more of a square shape and cut into 8 rectangles. I put some pizza sauce, sliced mozzarella cheese and chopped, sliced ham. Then I folded the dough over and pinched down the edges to form pocket pizzas! That made 16 Pizza pockets!

The last batch, I rolled out into (divided in 2 halves), two 18 in. circles, then I spread a thin layer of pizza sauce (optional), sprinkled with mozzarella cheese and frozen spinach (thawed and drained). Then I rolled it like you would a log for cinnamon rolls and cut into slices! That made over 20 spinach rolls!

All of the rolls turned out soooo good! I was very happy! Here is another picture of all of the rolls!

A close up of the spinach rolls! Yum!

And last but not least, I wanted some bars! I thought oat bars would be a hit and I found a recipe that I changed up and it turned out SOOOO YUMMY!
Sorry I do not have a picture of mine to share! Maybe next time!

Cream Cheese Cranberry Bars

36 Servings
Prep: 15 min. Bake: 30 min. + cooling
Ingredients
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 cups quick-cooking oats
1-1/2 cups plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour, divided
1 14oz. can of Whole Cranberry Sauce
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 tablespoon grated lemon peel
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions
•In a large bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Combine oats and 1-1/2 cups flour; add to the creamed mixture until
blended. Set aside 1-1/2 cups for topping.

•Press remaining crumb mixture into an ungreased 13-in. x 9-in. baking
pan. Bake at 350° for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned.

•Meanwhile, in a large bowl, combine the cranberry Sauce, cream cheese,
sugar, egg, lemon peel, vanilla and remaining flour. Spread evenly
over crust. Sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture.

•Bake for 20-25 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on a wire rack.
Refrigerate leftovers. Yield: about 3 dozen.

I will be posting the cake recipe soon! =)

Ultimate Blog Party 2010

The Ultimate Blog party is on! Yippee!

I got to participate last year and won a baby blanket for my niece! It was great fun!

This year they have even More prizes, and are doing a live party and live twitter party! So head over to 5MinutesForMom to check out all the details and link up your blog, enter prizes, etc!

Meet "Preparing For Our Children's Future"
I started blogging when my husband and I were very active into reaching out to others and trying to wake others up as to what is going on in the world and that we all need to get back to our core principles and values, our faiths and what the country was really founded on. We have have to learn our history, so we know who we are, where we came from and where we are going!

I have to admit I have gotten away from centering my blog around more of that, but I guess I feel that a lot of folks are awake now and that has finally brought some comfort to me!

Now I blog more "fuzzy" stuff, like product reviews, giveaways, inspirational post, weekly memes, etc! I still try to focus around family and things that are useful, and more natural, and things you can share and pass on to your children! They are the future and everything we do, should be for or with them in mind!

About me:

I am a Christian, stay-at-home wife and mom of two children and love my life! We live on a small piece of land now, but try to live as close to the land and nature as we can!

I love to cook & bake, work outdoors, garden, blog, read, watch shows and spend time with my family, homeschool, learn, and grow closer to my Heavenly Father!

How to follow my blog and activities:

Follow my blog by Google Friend connect (on sidebar)

Follow my blog on Networked blogs (link on sidebar)

Follow me on Twitter ForThierFuture

Prizes At the Ultimate Blog party that Interest me!

Most of them are gift certificates from places like Amazon, target, etc. I would use them for things we need like clothes, shoes and educational books!

USC 8 ($55 EGift card from Amazon),
USC 3 ($50 Taget gift card),
USC 35 ($50 paypal cash) ,
USC 36 ($25 Amazon gift card)
87 ($30 Amazon gift certificate),

If I did not win any of those, my second list would be:

The Ultimate Blog Party!!

Okay, as usual I am a Little late for the blog party! But please check it out, if you have not already! I hope to get to meet a bunch of the great blogs over time! They have such great prizes, too!

Ultimate Blog Party 2009

Hey Ladies!
I am finally going to finish this post and introduce myself a little bit! Sorry i did not have time sooner! Thank you all for the great comments and stopping by! I will visit your blogs as soon as I can!

I am first my Heavenly Fathers! Then I am a wife to the worlds finest husband, (whom I call King Ed on my blogs!) and mother to two adorable girls, Princess S. (3 1/2) and Princess A. (17 months)! I love my high calling and seek everyday how to best answer my calling and God's will in our lives. God is sooo Good!
I am a SAHM, homemaker, home-schooler, home-birthing and home-growing! Guess you could say, I am big about "home"!
I enjoy reading my Bible, spending time with my family, cooking and baking and making things for my family and others, learning how to sew, learning about and using herbs (which I hope to share about on my blog!), gardening, animals, the Great Out Doors, and growing closer to the Great Creator(!), politics, learning history and about our founding fathers, reading, writing, blogging, etc!
I started my blog to encourage others in their High-calling of raising their children and preparing for their children's future, to grow closer to God and teach their children well, to read and study history, and to remind you that you are part of this great country and that we will pass it on to our children, so we must be involved standing up for our children's future in this country (and here is the best way to do so http://www.the912project.com/)%20)in) , and of course, I share about us, recipes, (soon herbs), songs, etc., etc!
To learn a little more about me, here is an older blog party post,
http://preparingforourchildrensfuture.blogspot.com/2009/03/titus-2-blog-party.html !
I am also a member of "A Virtuous Woman" ! This is a great Ning social network, that I really enjoy! If you join or are all ready a member, let me know and I will add you as a friend! My page there is http://www.avirtuouswoman.org/profile/Hannah60
I also have a blog on Homeschool blogger
http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/ourchildrensfuture/
but it has pretty much the same content as this blog!
I look forward to meeting more of you, sharing and learning!
God bless you in your High-calling as wives, mothers, homemakers and home-schooler's! Remember, "The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world"! Your children are God's mighty warriors, so arm them, prepare them and pray hard!
God is soo Good! Praise His Name!
Love a sister in Christ,
Hannah

Here is a song (below) to share with you! hope you enjoy! I have so many good songs to share that I hope to post at least one each week! May you be blessed and encouraged!

Titus 2 Blog Party

She Looketh Well . . . Blog
Hello to all the ladies at the Titus 2 Blog Party!
And for those who have not been to the party yet, please visit Michelle over at http://shelookethwell.blogspot.com/ and find out how to join!
Michelle has asked us to share a little about ourselves and invites us to visit other women who desire to be Titus 2 women! How inspiring! I really enjoy being "At The Well"http://www.titus2atthewell.com/, and just wish I had more time to read and meet more there!

I am very shy and leery of writing much about myself on here, but will give it a try!
I was born in TX. My family moved to TN. and bought 119 acres of, not the best(!) land, when I was almost (12 yrs. old) and we lived a very plain life (similar to Amish or Mennonites). We cooked on a wood stove, cut firewood with a bow saw, raised A Lot of animals for meat, milk, eggs, to sell, etc. grow gardens every year, hauled water from the creek and spring till we got gravity flow water, used mules for plowing, lived Way back off the road and had to walk all the way up to the house, and pretty much everything on a farm and all by hand! We did have a van for going to town, though. We lived in a tiny, old 10'x50' trailer house for several years, then built us a house! That was a great experience, but not the first or last house or building I got to help build!
Sadly my parents did not have it all right, and my sister left home when she turned 18. I left after I turned 18, and became Ed's wife! And my next sibling down (a brother) left right before he turned 18. I still have 5 siblings at home between the ages 17 and 5. I do not see them though, since we do not want to expose our children to the drama.
I am 23 yrs. old now, happily married to the most incredible man in the whole world, King Ed! He is a lot older then me, according to his birth certificate, but I think there must have been a missprint! We use to enjoy seeing people's expressions when they found out we were married, but now we hardly notice! We have the best marriage I have ever seen, known of or heard about and I thank God everyday for all our blessings! We have two little girls so far, Princess S. (3 1/2) and Princess A. (16 months)! Both were born at home! And we are starting homeschooling with Princess S.! They are such blessings!
We pray that the Lord has a bigger piece of land for us in the future and we are able to raise our children close to the land and close to God!
I enjoy baking, cooking, homemaking, homeschooling, growing closer to God, learning more about Him and trying to be more like Jesus(!), nature and the Great OutDoors, animals, gardening, canning, working with and learning about herbs, sewing, reading, learning history, writing and more recently, blogging!
May God bless us mothers and give us His wisdom and guidance so that we may raise up for Him, godly children and mighty warriors!
God bless you in your High-Calling as a wife/mother/homemaker/teacher!
A sister in Christ,
Hannah
