Parables of Ants and Grasshoppers

A friend posted this up at "The Conservative Homeschooler" and I wanted to share it here too! Hope ya'll enjoy. ( I wrote more further down on this post)!

From Conservative libertarian Outpost

Parable of the Ant and the Grasshopper
By Patrick Sperry

TRADITIONAL VERSION:
The ant works hard in the witheringheat all summer long, building hishouse and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks theant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Comewinter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food orshelter, so he dies out in the cold.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Be responsible for yourself!*****

MODERN VERSION:
The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building hishouse and laying up supplies for the winter.
The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.
Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving.
CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN, and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.
America is stunned by the sharp contrast.
How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so? Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper, and everybody cries when they sing, “It’s Not Easy Being Green.”
Jesse Jackson stages a demonstration in front of the ant’s house where the news stations film the group singing, “We shall overcome.” Jesse then has the group kneel down to pray to God for the grasshopper’s sake. Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry & Harry Reid exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper , and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share. Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity and Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer! The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the government. Hillary gets her old law firm to represent the grasshopper in a defamation suit against the ant, and the case is tried before a panel of federal judges that Bill Clinton appointed from a list of single-parent welfare recipients. The ant loses the case.
The story ends as we see the grasshopper finishing up the last bits of the ant’s food while the government house he is in, which just happens to be the ant’s old house, crumbles around him because he doesn’t maintain it.
The ant has disappeared in the snow.
The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the once peaceful neighborhood.

This story reminded me of the new story of the little Red hen, when everyone sues her for not sharing the bread she made all by herself!

A while back, my girls watched "A Bug's Life". If you have never seen it, the ants collect food for the grasshoppers, or else, they will be destroyed by them, or so they think! But at the end the ants stand up against the grasshoppers, and realize ,they greatly out number the grasshppers! At one point in the story the lead grasshopper says they can only keep up on this control, by never letting even one ant raise up against them!
Anyways, the last time I saw this show, I was amazed at what I got from it! LOL! This could be a show about America, or any people, being controled by a small group of currupt bullies!

You can watch the complete show on Youtube, if you would like, but the first of this is a good clip!

Dear Sisters',
As a homeschooling mom, I am very concerned about my children’s future and the future of my country.
In this country, we have had freedom, family unity, faith, values and principles. Our country was founded on these valuable things and from them, our country became great. Our country has slowly been drawn away from these values though. Prosperity has made our lives easy and instead of remembering where our blessings originate from, we have turned to our selves and man. So, our prosperity has been abused and now our once great country, founded upon values and principles, has forsaken them and turned in, upon itself! Neighbor against their neighbors, parties against parties, family members against family members. We have been divided and divided we will fall.
As mothers and homeschoolers, I believe, it is our call and our duty to unit, no matter our religion, political party, background, or whatever divides us, and go in to the fight for the freedom of our country, our faith, and our family! We MUST live by the values and principles of our founding Fathers and apply them to our daily lives. We must educate ourselves about history, to make sure we know who we are and what our country stood for.
Why should we, mothers be involved?
Because We are the center of the home!
Because We are the teachers of our children (the next generation)!
Because the future of our country depends upon us.
If we do not educate ourselves about the founding of this country, the principles and values it is based upon, how will we be able to educate our children to be the next generation of leaders, parents, teachers, and businessmen, etc? How will they be able to live and thrive and raise their children (on values and principles) in a free country?
There are so many things happening in our lives and in our country right now. As the gatekeepers of our home, the "watch-women" in the watch towers of our castles, how will we meet what is approaching us? How will we be prepared?
I pray that You pray about these things everyday! I pray that you become involved, that you are concerned enough, and viligent, and strong enough, to take a stand, for Your Family, Faith and Freedom! After all, are you not homeschooling for this very reason?
God bless you in your High-calling as a mother!
A sister in Christ,
Hannah

Gov. Perry Backs Resolution Affirming Texas’ Sovereignty Under 10th Amendment

From http://governor.state.tx.us/news/press-release/12227/

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today joined state Rep. Brandon Creighton and sponsors of House Concurrent Resolution (HCR) 50 in support of states’ rights under the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

“I believe that our federal government has become oppressive in its size, its intrusion into the lives of our citizens, and its interference with the affairs of our state,” Gov. Perry said. “That is why I am here today to express my unwavering support for efforts all across our country to reaffirm the states’ rights affirmed by the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. I believe that returning to the letter and spirit of the U.S. Constitution and its essential 10th Amendment will free our state from undue regulations, and ultimately strengthen our Union.”

A number of recent federal proposals are not within the scope of the federal government’s constitutionally designated powers and impede the states’ right to govern themselves. HCR 50 affirms that Texas claims sovereignty under the 10th Amendment over all powers not otherwise granted to the federal government.

It also designates that all compulsory federal legislation that requires states to comply under threat of civil or criminal penalties, or that requires states to pass legislation or lose federal funding, be prohibited or repealed.

HCR 50 is authored by Representatives Brandon Creighton, Leo Berman, Bryan Hughes, Dan Gattis and Ryan Guillen.

Wow! I finally have some time to visit the new 9 12 project website! This is sooo Great! I joined, of course and look forward to becoming more involved in this. I urge you to at least look over it. If you join, that would be great! And please share with everyone you know! This is a way you can be involved in all that is going on and learn about things that are not being reported on the news, share videos and pictures of your get-togethers and "Tea Parties" and what all you are doing, or others in your area are doing. This is where you can share your wish list for what you would like to see happening or not happening in Washington, etc. This is a place to meet others who are 9-12ers (people who believe and live by the 9 Principles and 12 values, people who knew/know how to respond after 9/11/01). YOU ARE INVOLVED...and What we have been doing lately..

Wow! A lot has been going on lately and I have a lot of things I have been wanting to share. I don't know if it is better to split a lot of it up or combine it in one post! So I'll see how it runs out!

King Ed want to one of the "Tea Parties" on Feb. 27th that they had all across the country. I know they were not covered by the news, but some of the "Tea Parties" have been pretty big, and they are still having them and planning them! King Ed said there were a couple hundred people there, in Nashville, even though it was rainy and cold!
On March 13th, the girls "Nonnie" came to spend the evening with them, and King Ed and I went with another couple (friends of ours) to a couples home, whom none of us had ever met, for the viewing/ get together of Glenn beck's "We Surround Them" project. The show lasted an hour, but they had Tivo, so we kept stopping it and talking, discussing so much! It was great and we were there for about 2-3 hours! The couple (at who's home we visited) had a meeting the next morning at their local airport. When we showed up around 30 people were there, and the local Representative came in to answer some questions and hear what people had to say and talk a little about the bill they are trying to pass on the 10th Amendment. King Ed confronted him on some issues and so did a few others! Also after the Rep. left and King Ed got a chance to stand up and speak a little, he presented his "Open Letter To the Sheriffs of the nation" (you can find it in a post below. If you would like to print some off to pass around and give to your local sheriff, please email me for the PDF form at theriver@tds.net ). The people there were very happy to have this presented to them and we did not have petitions/letters enough to pass around to everyone, so one man went and made more copies! Anyways, I look forward to going to more meetings and "Tea Parties" and starting some meetings in our area. People are really waking up to what is going on in our country, or at least waking up and wondering what is happening and what they can do about it. I am so thankful to Glenn Beck for the work he has been doing trying to inform people about what is happening and could happen and helping everyone join together in their own areas! People need to be waking up! They need to be educating themselves, and joining others in their area. Things are happening Soo fast in the country right now. It is scary what is coming at us. We no longer have time to bury our heads, ignore the white elephant in the parlor, and never utter a word or become involved. This is Our country! This is where We live and whether we like it or not We are All involved! We will all be affected, no matter what happens, good or bad, in this country. So let us all join together! May there be holes in the knees our clothes from kneeling to pray, and may there be strength in our convictions, may we stand by our words, may we understand and live by our values and become a virtuous people! We cannot afford to loose the country! For the sake of our Founding Fathers', for the sake of our children and future generations, for the sake of freedom, WE MUST STAND!
God bless you all!
In Christ,
Hannah

We Surround Them Step 2

Here is the second step in "We Surround Them".
I shared the first step a week or so ago. If you have not read about it, please do! To read about step two and the big day that Beck is planning and how you can be a big part of it, go to:

http://www.glennbeck.com/content/articles/article/198/21018/

The Nine Principles

1. America is good.

2. I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.

3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.

4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.

5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.

6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.

7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.

8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.

9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.

The 12 Values

Honesty
Reverence
Hope
Thrift
Humility
Charity
Sincerity
Moderation
Hard Work
Courage
Personal Responsibility
Friendship

If you believe in these values and principles, apply them to your life, and live by them!

If believe in these values and principles (or most of them) send your picture to: wesurroundthem@foxnews.com

You are Not alone!
