Some Quotes on Wisdom, Freedom & the Loss of Freedom

I wanted to share some quotes and a cartoon from The Patriot Post today.
I receieve The Patriot Post by email and highly recommend it!

"In the formation of our constitution the wisdom of all ages is collected -- the legislators are antiquity are consulted, as well as the opinions and interests of the millions who are concerned. It short, it is an empire of reason." --Noah Webster, An Examination into the Leading Principles of the Federal Constitution, 1787

"The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave. ... [I]t is now too late to retire from the contest. There is no retreat but in submission and slavery! Our chains are forged! Their clanking may be heard on the plains of Boston! The war is inevitable -- and let it come! I repeat it, sir, let it come!" --Patrick Henry

"A terrible thing happened to America on Sunday, March 21, 2010. The country took its biggest step ever down a road diametrically opposed to its original intent of keeping the state small so that the individual can be free and great." --columnist Dennis Prager

The Words of......Noah Webster

"It is an object of vast magnitude that systems of education should be adopted and pursued which may not only diffuse a knowledge of the sciences but may implant in the minds of the American youth the principles of virtue and of liberty and inspire them with just and liberal ideas of government and with an inviolable attachment to their own country."
--Noah Webster, On Education of Youth in America, 1790

The Words of......Noah Webster

With all the talk of Obama's speech to the youth, there have been a lot of great quotes on Patriots Post about education and the youth! Here is a quote of a great man who's name may be on books in schools, but do our younger generations really know about him? I am sure that his Christian beliefs are left out of the schools!

"In my view, the Christian religion is the most important and one of the first things in which all children under a free government, ought to be instructed...No truth is more evident to my mind than that the Christian religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people." -Noah Webster
Oh, I have more to share from Mr. Noah Webster next week!
